E.B. White who spun classic tales like Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little, was born in New York in 1899. A dream about a tiny boy who acted mouse-like sparked the idea for Stuart Little, while he came up with Charlotte's Web after watching a big spider weave her web in his barn.

Angelina Jolie gave birth to twins - Knox and Vivienne - in France in 2008. The rights to the babies' first photos were sold for a record-breaking $11 million, a sum Jolie and daddy Brad Pitt reportedly donated to charity.

Harper Lee's Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, hit store shelves in 1960. Lee, who had been working as an airline reservation clerk, began writing the book in earnest only after friends pitched in to give her a year's wages so she could leave her job.

A clean-cut 26-yr-old named Dick Clark hosted his first episode of American Bandstand in 1956. The show's popularity took it to October 1989 - and is credited with introducing many music legends to the nation, including Buddy Holly and Madonna.

Hawaiian Wedding Cake
(aka Party Cake)

18 oz. Pkg. Yellow cake mix

1 small pkg. Instant vanilla pudding mix

16 oz. Can crushed pineapple, drain and reserve juice

9 oz. Cool Whip

8 oz. Cream cheese, softened

1 small can flaked coconut

Cherries

Walnuts, optional

Prepare cake according to directions; let cool. Prepare instant pudding, according to directions; refrigerate. When cake is cold, spread pineapple evenly on top of cake. Mix Cool Whip and instant pudding. Beat cream cheese until creamy and fold into pudding mixture. If mixture is too thick, add a few teaspoons of pineapple juice and mix well until mixture can be spread on top of cake like frosting. Sprinkle with coconut. Put cherries and walnuts on top. Refrigerate for several hours until topping is set. Bake cake in greased and floured 9x13 pan.
