Wounded Warriors
for
Brian
Young
men and women volunteer
to
protect our way of life,
to
face every hour of the day
great
turmoil and strife.
Many
give their all
to
serve God and keep peace
...others suffer unspeakable
agonies
long
after their release.
Our country should give great
honor
to
these, our retuning heroes,
yet
many find heartache and sorrow
binds
them in it’s throes.
For
these, their quality of life
should
bring us all to shame.
They
return with broken bodies,
yet we
seem to forget their names.
While suffering from wounded bodies,
and
minds that can’t forget,
how
can they ‘get on with their lives’,
when
they aren’t healed yet?
Sometimes the damage to the mind
...whether actual wounds or
memories...
can
alter their return to civilian lives
and
control all their energies.
Must
these, our Wounded Warriors
...having served our country well...
now
spend the rest of their lives
in a
ongoing living hell?
What
can I...and my country...
do for
these who chose to serve?
How
can we begin to give back to them
the
life they now deserve?
