Disney Princess Aurora made her big screen debut when Sleeping
Beauty premiered in Los Angeles in 1959. The princess's
willowy figure was inspired by another leading lady of the
time - Audrey Hepburn.
The world's largest diamond was discovered in a South
African mine in 1905. When the 3,106-carat stone
(weighing 1 1/3 pounds) was sent to London as a
birthday gift for England's king, two shipments made
the trip: a fake diamond, which traveled with several
guards, and the real diamond, which was
tucked inside a plain box.
The first Emmy Awards ceremony was held at the Hollywood
Athletic Club in Los Angeles in 1949. The winningest
performer ever? Cloris Leachman with eight prime-time
and one daytime awards. Shortly behind her:
Mary Tyler Moore and Ed Asner with seven each.
Future billionaire Oprah Winfrey was born into poverty
in rural Mississippi in 1954. In the 25-year run of her talk
show, the star never missed a day of work.
Canned beer hit store shelves for the first time in
1935 and became an instant hit not only because
it was more durable than bottled beer, but also
because no deposit was required and
it took less time to chill.
The single "We Are The World" was recorded in
1985. Written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie
and featuring 45 artists including Kim Carnes,
Diana Ross, Tina Turner Ray Chares, Bruce Springsteen
and Bob Dylan, it went on to raise $60 million
for African famine relief.

CRUNCHY NEW POTATOES
12 small new red potatoes
1 package ranch dressing mix
2 cups crushed cornflakes
8 tablespoons butter melted
Preheat oven to 400. Cook potatoes in boiling water until tender
about 20 to 25 minutes then drain potatoes and let cool slightly then
peel. Mix the dressing mix and cornflakes in a bowl then dip
potatoes in melted butter and roll in cornflake mixture then place
potatoes in a greased baking dish and bake for 25 minutes.
