I loved Dick Clark, as many did ... I grew up
with him. Today I dedicate
my page to him ... a true legend and a
real class act no matter what he did.

Thank you for the memories Dick

Included below are memories and lessons of Dick Clark's
which were excerpted from interviews and
speeches over the years.
"I have accomplished my childhood dream,
to be in
show business. Everybody should be
so lucky to have their
dreams come true.
I've been truly blessed."
Clark received the following awards:
- Emmy Awards (1979, 1983, 1985, and 1986)
- Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award (1994)
- Peabody Award (1999)
He was also an inductee at several Hall of Fame locations:
- Hollywood Walk of Fame (1976)
- National Radio Hall of Fame (1990)
- Broadcasting Magazine Hall of Fame (1992)
- Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1993)
- Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame (1993)
Clark was best known for hosting long-running
shows such as 'American Bandstand,'
the game show 'Pyramid' and
'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.'
"American Bandstand was the original reality show.
I mean, it was an open window to kids dancing
and the fashions changed, and the music was there."
"It's hard to explain how a silly little dance show
with a guy playing records and kids
dancing could have any sort of lasting significance."
"Age ain't got nothing to
do with how old you are."
didn't count. But I'm not ashamed of that, because
I think there's so much heaviness in our lives.
Somebody's got to be the class clown."

With the group ABBA in 1975
Playing on today's page ..
"People of all ages, more mature people — I'm saying forty and
beyond.
But even younger people have said it on occasion:
"Thank you
very much for being part of my life," or,
"I grew up with you," or,
"Thank you for all the good times."
If that was my legacy, that's pretty
good. I mean, I touched
a lot of people. Probably only rarely ever got
them to change
their thoughts politically or morally or uplifted them.
But I
took them away. Let them escape. And that's pretty big."
Singing for you Dick!

Baby Cinnamon Buns
1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
1/2 cup (1 stick) softened butter, divided
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in the
bottom of a pie plate. Add the brown sugar to the butter and stir to
combine.
Unroll crescent dough and pinch seams together to create one
big sheet.
Spread with remaining softened butter.
Combine white sugar
and cinnamon and sprinkle over the buttered dough. Roll the dough back
up into a log, and cut into 8 cinnamon rolls.
Place rolls in prepared pie plate. Sprinkle with any remaining cinnamon sugar.
Bake at 350 for
20 minutes.
Top with vanilla glaze (recipe follows) and serve warm.
Store leftover cinnamon buns (who am I kidding??) at room temperature.
Vanilla Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
4 tablespoons heavy cream
(or 2 tablespoons milk + 1 tablespoon butter)
1 teaspoon vanilla
========
With a fork, stir together sugar, cream, and vanilla until
smooth and pourable. Add one tablespoon of milk if needed
to thin. If using milk
and butter instead of cream, heat the
milk and butter in the microwave
to melt the butter, then
add to the sugar and stir in vanilla.
Nearing the end and to Dick, the news that needed
to be reported was no matter how many
roadblocks
life may throw your way, with determination and love
from family and friends one can achieve miracles.
For years, Dick Clark gave us all miracles, and
for
that we can only say, “Thank you, Dick.
Thank you for all the memories and inspiration.”
Those will last forever.
I hope you liked my page today. I did spend a lot
of time with it as I wanted to try and find just the
right pictures and words for a man who touched so
many lives. Again, a real class act. As I leave you
with the memories ... I will be back on
Monday. I wish you a good weekend. Do be safe and
always be aware of everything and everyone around you.
