“What day is it?”

“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.

“My favorite day,” said Pooh.”

August 6 is the 218th day of the year

(219th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar.

There are 147 days remaining until the end of the year.

The Spy Who Loved Me, starring Roger Moore as James Bond, hit theaters in 1977. Moore was the third actor to play the debonair 007 (after Sean Connery and George Lazenby). Since then Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig have all had a turn at the role.

President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Medicare into law in 1965. The first beneficiary? Former president Harry Truman, who received his Medicare card at the bill-signing ceremony in independence, Missouri.

The Beatles "Hard Day's Night" rose to the top of the charts - and stayed there for two weeks - in 1964. The catchy tune was used as a wake up call for astronauts on the 1989 STS-30 space shuttle mission.

Bruce Jenner, step-dad to Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, took home the gold medal for his decathlon competition in the 1976 Montreal Olympics. The star athlete beat the Soviet favorite and set a new world record when he scored 8,617 points.

The pseudo-documentary blockbuster "The Blair Witch Project" premiered in 1999. The film, which took eight days to shoot and cost $22,000 to make, went on to gross more than $240 million.

The cornerstone of the pedestal for the "Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World" was laid on a rainy day in 1884. The six-ton block of granite houses a copper box with a copy of the U.S. Constitution.

Harold Gray's beloved comic strip "Little Orphan Annie" debuted in the New York Daily News in 1924 and ran until 2010. Gray came up with the idea after meeting a girl named Annie wandering the Chicago streets. He said he admired her common sense and ability to take care of herself.

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing,

wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is

really no such thing as bad weather, only

different kinds of good weather.

- John Ruskin

I always feel sorry for people who think more

about a rainy day ahead than sunshine today.

- Rae Foley

Let the rain kiss you.

Let the rain beat upon your head with

silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

- Langston Hughes

Rain showers my spirit

and waters my soul.

- Terri Guillemets

One thing a mother must always save

for a rainy day is patience

- Anonymous

And when it rains on your parade,

look up rather than down.

Without the rain,

there would be no rainbow.

- Gilbert K. Chesterton

Thank you for joining me today, and I do hope everyone

had a good weekend. Mine was nice. Spent time

volunteering at our town's Blues & Ribfest in the

information booth. I got to visit with people I had

not seen for a long time and made new friends

as well. The aroma from all the ribs cooking and

other food vendors was heavenly! I am not much

of a blues or jazz music fan, but I will admit I caught

myself tapping my toe to several tunes.

Here is wishing you a good day - and

I do hope you will share my

pages with friends, family and groups.

Remember to always be safe in being very aware

of everything and everyone around you.

Till another time ... I wish .....

HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU
