In light of some who do not recognize or celebrate Halloween,

that is fine, but please know my page is not directed to anything evil or

the such. It all is meant in fun. I have fond memories of Halloween

while growing up. Trick or Treat night was always a favorite of mine.

I liked collecting the pennies in my cardboard carton for

UNICEF. When I think of the many children's lives that I may

have touched, it does bring back good thoughts of Halloween.

I also have enjoyed watching my grandchildren grow up

having the fun of dressing up and going door to door.

Great times and wonderful pictures to hold the memories.

Below is some history surrounding UNICEF beginning in 1950 and it

continues today to help children in need.

DID YOU KNOW?

1950	Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is born! Rev. Clyde and Mary Emma Allison design and organize a “kids helping kids” program where children throughout the country Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.

1951	Checks, big and small, pour into the UNICEF office from trick-or-treaters across the U.S.

1959	Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF's first TV appearance! Lassie carries an orange collection box on her show.

1967	President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaims October 31st “National UNICEF Day” in perpetuity. First Ladies launch the campaign each year.

1969	TV's Bewitched devotes a full episode to Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.

1970s	States and cities nationwide proclaim Halloween “UNICEF Day”.

As we bid the month of October good-bye, we look
ahead to the time change in November along with
honoring our veterans on Nov. 11th and the
celebration of Thanksgiving.

And in closing my note, please let me say that nature can be soo much more powerful than us. In wake of the most devastating storm, Sandy, in decades that hit the country's most densely populated region that just upended man and nature as millions are left without. Thousands will return to nothing and their lives will never be the same. Do continue to keep all those that were in the path in prayer. I do feel blessed that our area where I live did not suffer any real hardship(s).
I am sure many search now for direction to move forward.
